Bad Weather for Showcase, Great Fun for Business

The 2008 Showcase Oldham County may have been closed early due to the winter storm of 08, but the events surrounding the celebration were a huge success.  This year’s Showcase was presented by Baptist Hospital Northeast.

The Exhibitor Appreciation Breakfast took place the week before and offered great tips on creating a fun and interesting exhibitor space.  The speaker, Mike Mateja, project manager from the Kentucky International Convention Center, demonstrated the good and bad points of networking and exhibit space management.  More than 65 participants attended and celebrated the kick off of Showcase with live music, door prizes, and great networking. The Showcase Kickoff Luncheon, is an annual tradition, and despite the weather more than 230 Chamber members and their guests attended.  It was a great crowd.  Although it was snowing outside, the colors and enthusiasm inside created a Spring like atmosphere.   This year’s Showcase planning committee introduced a new auction format giving everyone a chance to win; Robert Bach, chief economist with Grubb & Ellis, offered the crowd his insight on the current economy; and overall the audience was lively and enthusiastic about the event. Live. Work. Play. and BUY! was this year’s theme for Showcase.  It truly represented  the diversity of the exhibitors and it kicked off the theme of the Chamber’s efforts for 2008
