The Oldham County Chamber of Commerce, The Oldham Era and The Game Room in Crestwood challenge you to enter the singing contest to find a local superstar. Audition for your chance to compete onstage at the 2010 Showcase Oldham County event! Grand prize winner will receive $350 cash prize, an invitation to be the Chamber’s representative in the 2010 Oldham County Day Parade and the title 2010 Oldham Icon! Runner-up receives $150 cash!

2010 Oldham Icon OFFICIAL RULES:
1) Oldham Icon is a singing competition, offering two cash prizes to one contest winner ($350 prize) and one runner-up ($150 prize). The competition will feature an auditions night, Wednesday February 24th from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at the Oldham County Schools Arts Center, and finalists will compete at the 2010 Showcase Oldham County event, Saturday March 13th at 1:00 p.m. at the Oldham County YMCA Soccer Complex. All proceeds benefit the Oldham County Chamber of Commerce.
2) The first 100 entrants who submit a registration form with the $10 entry fee will be invited to "audition" on “Auditions Night”, February 24th, 2010. The Oldham County Chamber of Commerce may, at it’s discretion, accept additional entrants or organize a second heat based upon demand. Entrants will receive a registration number upon registration. The order of contestant performances on auditions night will be determined by order of registration number. The Chamber of Commerce reserves the right to limit the number of contestants accepted to perform during the auditions.
3) Auditions will consist of the contestants singing acappella for a minimum of 30 seconds. Each performance will be judged, using a numerical rating system, by a panel of three/four judges. Judges will use their numerical ratings to select finalists to compete at the 2010 Showcase Oldham County event. The decision of the judges is final.
4) Contestants invited to compete as finalists at the 2010 Showcase Oldham County event on March 13th will each perform a full song of their choice with a time limit of 3 minutes. Contestants must provide Chamber of Commerce with their song selection no later than March 1st at 12:00 noon. Contestants must provide the track for their song selection on CD (i.e. from a Karaoke CD), and must bring their CD to the finals on March 13th. Contestants may not play instruments or be accompanied by instruments at any point during the competition, including auditions.
5) Each song will be judged separately by the judges and scored by the panel of judges using a numerical rating system. The contestant with the top score will be deemed the winner, and the next highest scoring contestant will be runner-up. In the event of a tie, the judges will each cast a vote for the winner. The results of that vote will break the tie. Judges may invite contestants back on stage for a second acappella performance at their discretion. The judges’ decision will be final.
6) The $10 registration fee is not refundable if a contestant fails to show up for the audition. If a registered contestant does not show up for auditions night or for finals, he/she will be automatically eliminated from the contest. All registration fees are non-refundable.
7) The Oldham County Chamber of Commerce, The Oldham Era, The Game Room, The Oldham County Schools Arts Center and all of the 2010 Showcase Oldham County sponsors are not responsible for any personal external circumstances that may prevent a contestant from performing.
8) Any contestant using foul language, or otherwise demonstrating poor sportsmanship in the opinion of any Chamber staff member or Oldham Icon volunteer, or found to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs, may be eliminated from the competition at the discretion of the Chamber staff.
9) The image and/or voice of any contestant may be used for promotional purposes by The Oldham County Chamber of Commerce, The Oldham Era and other media entities. This includes website exposure and possible broadcast on television or radio.
10) Employees of The Oldham County Chamber of Commerce, The Oldham Era, and The Game Room and their direct families are not eligible to enter the competition.
11) The Oldham Icon competition may be discontinued by The Oldham County Chamber of Commerce without notice if deemed necessary. This competition is open to any U.S. citizen aged at least 14 years. Contestants under 18 years of age must have a signed parental consent, located on registration form.
